Sylvia Baldwin is an experienced professional with over 30 years of experience in Human
Resources.  She has provided support for different industries through the West Coast and in
New York City, successfully providing delivery of HR services in fast moving environments that
demanded more with minimal resources.   Her services include:
  • Strategic and risk management counsel in areas of complex employee  relations,
    including investigations;
  • HR audits;
  • Change management;
  • Performance management, including effective counseling techniques;
  • Management training in the areas of performance counseling “due process”; Workers
    Compensation; Sexual Harassment; Discrimination; Unemployment Insurance, and
    Workplace legal compliance issues

Sylvia takes the time to understand the business needs of the company in order to bring
creative and practical solutions to difficult situations.   She partners with supervisors and
managers in creating a workplace conducive to productivity and one that fosters good morale.  
She has successfully responded to both DFEH and EEOC charges and is experienced in
preparing and responding to both EEOC and DFEH on site audits.

Sylvia also has extensive experience helping both corporate and non-profits with creating
written handbooks - creating policies consistent with the company’s individual management
practices.  She has created employment application and recruitment procedures including an
internal job posting process for internal transfers.  She produced industry specific Behavioral
Recruitment Guidelines to assist hiring managers in legal and effective recruitment and
expanded the network of recruiting sources to reduce the cost of hires.  

Sylvia has worked in both the corporate and nonprofit sectors.  She served as Director of
Human Resources at Sacred Heart Schools, Atherton, Vice President and Senior Employee
Relations Consultant for Union Bank of California, and as an independent consultant.  Recruited
by a Bank Executive to join his management team as Vice President &Marketing Officer, Sylvia
provided marketing and sales support to three statewide teams selling international products
and services. She has volunteered as a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) advocating
on behalf of four bilingual children in the Marin County Social Services system. She has served
on the Stanford Alumni Board and actively volunteers in the various Stanford Campaigns.  

Sylvia holds a Bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and studied abroad at their campus in
Florence Italy.  She is an active member of NCHRA and SHRM.  She is fluent in Spanish and
Italian.
